July 3rd - 358 Sportsman After weeks of running on a dying Crate 1 motor the team replaced the engine with a 358 sportsman and went to Bridgeports Speedway. Not much to show on the results but the new engine is powerfull. We took it easy today to shake everything down. Everything is good to go for New Eqypt in 2 weeks. May 8th to May 22nd - Issues Not much to write about other then chasing down issues. A couple of solid laps here and there, but looking foward to better days. A new year with new hopes; this year New Egypt Speedway (NES) is going to be the choice track for Renninger Racing. The team will fill in the schedule with Bridgeport Speedway on off weekends as NES runs the crate 1 class every other weekend. After missing the draw for positions Erik started 13th in the second heat and didn’t mind it as it would give him a chance to feel out the track before getting beside anyone. On lap 2 Erik jumped ahead of 3 cars and showed signs of fun and successful year. Erik would make it up to the 6th spot before a caution would come out. Out of nowhere during the caution the steering went as the field was pacing out the track, Erik ended up being towed in, disappointed leaving his qualifying spot behind. After fixing the issue with the Steering Erik tried to fight back in the consolation only to find him on the front end of spun car in the first turn on lap 4 of the race, again starting in the back and reaching a qualifying spot. After being pulled off the other car, Erik was black flagged with a rear bumper that was hanging off and deemed not safe to race but the track officials. Frustrated the car went on the trailer and the team called it a night. So they thought, until another driver told the team they might be able to get into the feature as his car was not going to make it. With this news Erik confirmed and they would start 25th in the feature. Off the trailer the car came and 25th they started. Trying to bring the car home in one piece Erik took his time for the first couple of laps and found out quickly that unlike Bridgeport Erik was going to pass cars. Erik said that this race was the most fun he has had since he stepped in the car, give or take a couple wins. A favorable finish of 15th considering what it took to get there was a successful opening day for the team. Eager for the next race, the team prepares. 27 |
